Signal City Adventures: Volume One, released in June 2026, is a collection of seven short stories set in the Signalverse. A couple of these had been published elsewhere, but most of them first appeared on my Patreon from 2024-2026. I created a ton of characters for the Signalverse. Most of them are merely background characters, intended to give the novels a little more flavor, but I really liked some of them and I really wanted to tell some of their stories. So that's how this book came about. The stories include: Ankhara and the Anzu Bird: The evil Ankhara, a resurrected princess of ancient Egypt, attempts to summon the Anzu Bird, a legendary harbinger of doom. Only the Paranormals, with their new recruit Kandy Kane, stand a chance of stopping her. The Ghosts of F.A.N.G.: The Silver Shot investigates the murder of a retired hero in Signal City in 1967. What he uncovers is a conspiracy stretching all the way back to World War II. Going Viral: The patriotic heroine Patriette saves Kieran, an ordinary middle school student, from a gang of bullies, and a video of the incident goes viral. Embarrassed by the attention, Kieran seeks out Patriette to give her a piece of his mind, and winds up accompanying her on a wild adventure. War Stories: Near the end of World War II, four soldiers assigned to guard a mysterious package on their way home from Europe find themselves swapping stories about the heroes they've encountered on the battlefield. One of these soldiers may be something more than he seems... Life in the Fast Lane: A villain with the ability to slow down time itself returns to Signal City. The city's superhero speedsters join forces to stop him...only to find that he's armed himself with a weapon capable of cancelling out their powers. Kidding Around: A girl who likes to joke around realizes that some of the kids in her neighborhood have begun to disappear...and no one believes her. It falls to her, and the demonic hero-for-hire Melusine, the Devil's Daughter, to save the day. Popularity Contest: The powerful heroine Protectress is burned by a magical fire, and the nanites in her body can't seem to heal the injury. Unwilling to turn to Miracle Girl and her "snobby" friends for her help, she visits the witch Necromancia instead, and finds herself in more trouble than she could have imagined. |
